Why carry out community consultation?
Successful consultation has many benefits for a business – the major one being it can give the community a better understanding of your business, your contribution to society and the constraints under which you operate. Effective consultation can identify the community’s expectations and perceptions of your environmental performance. It can identify solutions to problems as they arise. It can help define and articulate your corporate environmental policy and assess your performance. Successful consultation is an open communication process that gives those involved sufficient time and opportunity to listen, and identify, the interests and expectations of all parties.
